Upper School Activities

Academic Competitions
Lake Mary Preparatory School offers a wide variety of academic competitions throughout the school year. These include participation in the State Spanish Competition, Robotics Competitions, Speech and Debate Competitions, and Math Competitions.

At Lake Mary Preparatory School we believe that advisory classes and character development are vital qualities to nurture as they benefit our students in social and emotional development. Our Middle School students participate in weekly advisory classes that are held every Thursday, where we follow a written curriculum and focus on the character development of our students.

What sets LMP apart from other schools, is the one-on-one support our teachers and administrators offer to our students both academically and socially. Our advisory class environment fosters a strong student-faculty relationship that creates a welcoming family-like setting.

International Field Trips

Can travel make a difference in students' futures? It certainly can and does every single day. In fact, ACIS surveyed 930 former ACIS travelers to see how their tours abroad as young adults influenced their choices in education and paved a way for future careers. Many of them credit travel as a defining moment in their adolescence.

Awards Ceremony
Student academic achievements are recognized during an annual awards ceremony at the end of the school year. Students work diligently throughout the school year, and the Upper School Awards Ceremony is a celebration where faculty, parents, and students come together to acknowledge Lake Mary Preparatory School’s outstanding achievers.

Upper School students are encouraged to participate in one or more clubs. This allows students to explore different interests and develop relationships outside of the classroom. The clubs we offer to students varies by interests and availability of each is subject to change from year-to-year. There are a variety of clubs offered from the National Honor Society (NHS), Key Club, Student Government, Robotics, and the #NeverAgain Coalition, and more.

College Counseling

The college planning process is a difficult time and can be very confusing. Here at Lake Mary Preparatory School, we guide students and families through the process. College awareness and preparation begins in ninth grade, and the College Counseling program works closely with students and families to find a college or university that will enrich the life of the student and build upon the strong foundation established at LMP.

Workshops, guest speakers, panel discussions, information sessions, and individual counseling serves to advise families about the choices students will be asked to make in Upper School that will directly affect their college options. At a very early stage, Lake Mary Preparatory School addresses the various aspects of academic preparation and college awareness; including the importance of academic achievement and course selection, the necessity of participation in extracurricular activities and summer programs, the role of standardized testing, and financial aid and scholarship opportunities.

Community Service

Lake Mary Preparatory prides itself on community service and encourages all Upper School students to complete community service on and off-campus. These hours support their requirements for NHS, Key Club, and Bright Futures Scholarship. As a school, we place an emphasis on serving our community. Students are encouraged to seek opportunities to make a positive impact within the Lake Mary Prep and the local community.

Debate Team

Lake Mary Preparatory School has boasted a competitive debate team since the 2008-09 school year. Students may compete in a variety of categories including Student Congress, extemporaneous speaking, original oratory, dramatic performance, oral interpretation of literature, Public Forum Debate and Lincoln-Douglas Debate.

Homecoming Week

Homecoming Week is a fun-filled, energetic time to express our school spirit. Each year grades nine through twelve compete in games, costume contests, fundraisers, and pep rallies as part of a week of events that lead up to the Homecoming dance.

Pep Rallies

Lake Mary Preparatory School enjoys the benefits of having many successful athletic teams. Periodic pep rallies provide students, faculty, and staff an opportunity to show their support of scholar-athletes. These are exciting, fast-paced events with plenty of music, games and school spirit.

This is the traditional junior-senior dance to which Lake Mary Preparatory School students add their own style so it becomes a unique event. This is a student-planned event sponsored by Student Government.

Senior Events

Seniors look forward to many fun events in their last year of Upper School. Some events include Senior Kick-off, Senior Lunches, Senior Beach Day, Senior Field Day, Senior Rest Day, and more.
